Is it a good idea to change your DVR port numbers?

Is it a good idea to change your DVR port numbers?

DVR port numbers can be changed from their default settings to simplify the process of port forwarding when you need to configure your router for internet access.

We suggest that a port sequence is used ie 34567 – 34568 – 34569  this is instead of 34567 – 80 – 34599 as in a Qvis Atlantis, changing DVR port numbers to the ones shown allows you to open ports in a sequence or range of 34567 to 34569 and so only one new “device” needs to be created instead of 3 different devices as would usually be the case.

A simple change such as this also removes the possibility of a conflict with the much used port 80.

Is your Hikvision driving you mad with constant BEEPING!!

Is your Hikvision driving you mad with a constant beeping? If yes we maybe able to help. There is a process that should be able to clear it. From the main menu goto  configurations then exceptions from this menu select “ALL” from the dropdown box then tick all 3 boxes and apply, then untick all 3 boxes and apply again this should then bring you silence.

Care should be taken that you don’t disable an alarm that might be of use ie if the camera loses video signal due to the cable being cut etc.

H ere is a list of default ie “Out of the box” passwords for most of the DVRs we supply, these won’t work if you have changed the passwords and you have forgotten them.

Can a CCTV microphone be fitted outside?

Can a CCTV microphone be fitted outside?

Yes it can but you have to mount it inside an ip box, [available from our website], simply drill a small hole in the bottom of the ip box just large enough to fit the end of the microphone, using the ip box to protect both the connections and the microphone.

It is always best to try and position a CCTV microphone out of direct rain and adverse weather so under the eaves/soffits on a building is best.
